Science Ministries - I’ve never ceased to be amazed that, once all the facts are in, seemingly ancillary statements in Scripture that carry scientific overtones always  prove to be true.  Take, for instance, the U. S. Navy’s massive pre-WWII building program.  The objective was to create a fleet of merchant ships for blue water where both stability and cargo-carrying capacity were maximized.  A linear program finally disgorged the ratio of needed dimensions --- ‘coincidentally’ they just happened to be the same as those recorded in Genesis for Noah’s ark!
Even more impressive is the celestial mechanics and meteorology of Job 26:7-10, the nature of the earth in Job 26:10, 28:5 and Isaiah 40:22, and atomic structure in Hebrews 11:3.  But one of the most intriguing examples of good science and the Bible involves a naval Commander, Matthew F. Maury.  Hailing from a strong Christian family, Maury considered daily Scripture reading the norm.  The inspiration of Psalms 8 and its “Paths of the Seas” led him to chart many of the world’s ocean currents; this was the birth of the new nautical branch of science we know today as oceanography.  
It’s little wonder the accepted scientific norm, even well into the 20th century, was to weigh one’s hypotheses against Holy Writ.  You may not always find support, but if you ever discover contradiction, you quickly realize that it’s your hypothesis that requires revision.  
Many students are surprised to learn that approximately 40% of practicing scientists still incorporate this methodology into their formulation of the scientific method.  After all, good science involves a serious time commitment;  who has so much of it they’d willingly waste it?  If you wish to practice science without rejecting your faith, let us give you a hand.  In fact, you might be interested in reading about some of
the 40%.   There’s a great book published in 2001 by Master Books called “In Six Days.”  The sub-title is ‘Why 50 scientists choose to believe in creation?’  I recommend it; it’s not only a good read, it’s a great faith-strengthener as well.
